11/30/11:  Greyt progress in the last two days.  The right and rear kennel suites areas are just about ready for roofing.  The left side where the quarantine room will be is prepared to be framed.  Many thanks to all the volunteers for Dumpster Aid who have already come by to help and for those volunteering for Saturday.  You will hear from Marilyn Friday regarding times.  Please remember your work gloves, wear thick soled shoes and work clothes.

11/28/11:  The dumpster arrived late this afternoon.  Be a part of DUMPSTER AID!  This week will require the transfer of lots of old building debris to a large dumpster.  WE NEED HELP.  The building debris and trash needs to be loaded onto the dumpster.  We need volunteers every day this week.  If you can help  - any day for however much time you can - call Marilyn at 978-462-7973.  Saturday will be a Dumpster Marathon to complete every last bit of the loading before the dumpster is picked up.  By helping you can take heart in knowing that you have contributed to a better future for the greyhounds. And BYOWG - bring your own work gloves!  A big "roo" from the hounds.

11/27/11:  Sunday was off to a foggy start.  Volunteers continued to work on framing, foundations and clean-up.  Volunteers are needed all week through Saturday to help load the dumpster. Volunteers are also needed to help pack up the remaining items in the kennel  To help, call Marilyn at 978-462-7973.

11/23/11:  Rain halted work today.  Tomorrow is a holiday.  Back to work on Friday.  GAS is thankful for our wonderful adopters and supporters.  We - the humans and dogs of GAS - wish you all a happy Thanksgiving.

11/20/11:  Weekend Update.  The chilly weather of Saturday was tempered on Sunday by sun and spring like temperatures.  Much progress was made in framing the kennel suite areas.  GAS volunteers helped Marilyn bag and remove trash, old records, outdated forms, worn blankets and towels from the inside of the kennel building. The roofing is scheduled for next week.

11/17/11:  Yesterday morning, a reporter from the Daily Times of Newburyport came to do a story on the GAS renovation with Project Pawsitive.  The article appeared on the front page of today's paper.  To read the entire article, click here: Rescuing the Dog Rescuers.

11/16/11:  Murphy's Law reared up today when the wrong load of building materials was brought from the store.  Tree cutting, dumpster filling, and preparations for the new kennel suite foundations continued.  The correct building materials will arrive tomorrow.

Dumpster driving.  It's hard work but it kind of looked like fun driving that bobcat!

11/15/11:  Yesterday and today were consumed with the filling of dumpsters, hauling away the debris, the delivery of building materials, and other preparatory work.  JB and Drew from Project Pawsitive, Project Pawsitive volunteer Scott Stone and GAS volunteer David Ferragamo worked on setting up for the framing.  Volunteer Jerry Ferragamo will continue with debris removal. The framing will take place tomorrow through Friday.  Both the siding and roofing are scheduled for next week. Check back for more photos.  These are from today.

Phase 2, the renovation of the interior of the kennel, will begin immediately after the exterior is completed - that is, if we have the funds to continue.  Please open your hearts and your wallets, and donate to this once in a lifetime opportunity for GAS.  We need your help NOW! 11/12/11:  Demolition Day!  Today Al Pogo and his crew took down the old sheds that were attached to the sides of the main building along with additional debris.  The materials piled up rapidly waiting for removal by three large dumpsters.  The construction begins on Monday. Thanks to all who have helped in so many ways.  Please keep your support coming. Check back for more photos.
